The famous Stagecoach vineyard is a huge planting in the eastern hills of Napa Valley above Yountville and Oakville. Its fame is justified, as the soils, micro-climate, and terroir are nearly perfect for grape growing, and the effort to develop these vineyards was monumental. Our blocks of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc are at the far western edge of Stagecoach above Oakville, and are planted on steep slopes in red Hambright soils. It is always a late ripening vineyard, and the complexity and structure that emerge with hangtime are astounding. Our block of Cabernet Sauvignon is planted on a steep SW-facing slope to the Weimer clone, sourced from a famous vineyard in Bordeaux. This Cabernet Franc was the foundation, along with the Frediani Vineyard, of The Prior Cabernet Franc from 2010 until 2013.
