Stagecoach Vineyard has long been associated with high elevation Cabs, and the wines have always shown that raw, delineated, intense, mountain fruit. Our Block, D8, was planted to the Weimer clone, facing due West, on some of the rockiest soil in all of Stagecoach, at the far northwest corner overlooking Oakville. The wine is dark red to black in color, with a soaring nose of black raspberry, cherry pie, incense, potpourri, bourbon vanilla, dark chocolate and exotic spice. The palate shows the warm vintage with lush fruit and an unctuous texture, while the mountain tannins provide the structure, allowing the fruit to shine on the long finish. From a site on Pritchard Hill, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Stagecoach offers more blue fruits, crushed violets, espresso, and a touch of minerality to a go with a beautifully pure, full-bodied, concentrated style on the palate. It's another impressive wine from this estate, unfortunately there only two barrels made.
Ripe and polished, with an enticing core of plum, violet and melted licorice notes, seamlessly entwined and gliding through a well-integrated finish. Refined and lengthy. You can kick back with this now, or hold for a bit. Drink now through 2030.
