We are thrilled to present our latest Chardonnay cuvée to you: Supermoon. We have long been searching for a vineyard in Sonoma that could provide the kind of crystal clear character that we love, and we have found it in the H. Klopp Vineyard. The Robert Young and Old Wente clonal selections provide tons of complexity, minerality, fruit and lift - all on this vineyard’s specific, high-acid frame. The color is a light straw with flashes of green. Aromas of lemon, lime blossom, green papaya, Gravenstein apple and flinty minerality lead to a finesse-driven palate that is extremely silky. The palate features more exotic flavors of orange, lemon curd and the lightest vanilla with a hint of spice on the long, graceful finish, framed by mouthwatering acidity. Aged for 11 months in 33% new French oak.
The 2018 Chardonnay Supermoon H. Klopp Vineyard is vibrant and fresh, with a classy, medium-bodied style that has a kiss of reduction in its notes of caramelized apples, white flowers, and charcoal-like nuances. Brought up in one-third new barrels, this is classic Sonoma Coast Chardonnay to enjoy over the coming 4-5 years, if not longer.
The 2018 Chardonnay Supermoon springs from the glass with vibrant grapefruit, orange blossoms, white peaches and lemon curd scents followed by touches of sea spray and struck match. Medium-bodied, elegant and refreshing, it delivers a great intensity of stone fruit and citrus flavors with a lingering minerally finish.
