Once again the Alfred Frediani Vineyard impresses with its ability to provide ripe, glorious fruit in even the coolest of vintages! This lush Petite Sirah was picked the day before the first rains in late September at perfect ripeness. The cool season brought even more elegance to the grapes from these 65 year-old vines, whose well-drained pebbly soils already provide unbelievable complexity for Petite Sirah. The aromatics are of plum, white pepper, blackberry, dark chocolate and hot rocks (an omnipresent characteristic in wines from this sector of the valley). The palate is veritably unctuous, with even a little more depth and supple mouthfeel than past vintages. The finish goes on and on. This wine is extremely drinkable now.
Generous and expressive, with plenty of rose petal and violet aromatics up front, showing cigar box and red licorice details to the core of plum, wild blackberry and cherry. White pepper and crushed rock details gain momentum on the finish, while dense, velvety tannins give the flavors plenty of traction. Drink now through 2025.
