The old vines at the legendary Alfred Frediani Vineyard that produce our Petite Sirah are at the heart and soul of the Old Napa. Planted in 1939 by Alfred himself, they have been farmed organically and without irrigation ever since. The fact that this vineyard is contiguous with - and shares the same soil as - some of the most famous vineyards in the Napa Valley Blue-Chip Cabernet World makes them all the more rare. These old boys handled the 2015 vintage with aplomb, producing a wine with a remarkable balance of freshness, richness and density. Gorgeous aromatics of brambly blackberry pie, Madagascar chocolate, lavender, cracked pepper, creamy vanilla-laced oak and shades of red raspberry strudel. The palate is rich and voluminous with the finest tannins we have yet seen in this bottling, leading to a balanced, elegant, powerful finish.
The inky purple-colored 2015 Petite Sirah Old Vines comes from vines planted in 1939 by Alfred Frediani, who still farms the property today. Aged 20 months in 50% new French oak and boasting fabulous notes of blueberries, blackberries, ground pepper, crushed rocks and graphite, this dense, full-bodied, unctuous effort is made in a pedal to the metal, blockbuster style, yet never seems heavy or over the top.
Rich, deep and polished, with blackberry jam and Asian spice aromas and layered plum, licorice and bittersweet chocolate flavors. Drink now through 2024
Very deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Petite Sirah Old Vines delivers notes of cassis, blackberry preserves, black cherries compote, licorice and spice box plus a hint of mocha. Full-bodied, concentrated, rich and opulent, it has a chewy, appealingly rustic texture and great length.
