The 2016 Petite Sirah from Alfred Frediani’s 1939 plantings is a dark, brooding wine full of character and depth. It is deep purple in color with a magenta rim. Aromas of hyper-ripe plums, fruitcake, black cherry syrup, white flowers, Asian spice, dried thyme and Madagascar vanilla fill the glass. The palate is layered and rich with deep flavors echoing the nose and a sense of almost limitless power. The tannins, as always from this site, show a sense of refinement rare in Petite Sirah, and the luxurious mouthfeel they create carry the flavors into a resoundingly, long finish.
