Every year we pick this vineyard early, hoping to preserve the perfume and complex aromatics, while still getting the fruit ripe, so it’s intensely flavorful and full of fruit. In 2015, the hottest year on record, this meant picking earlier than ever, but the results have proven the veracity of the method. This wine displays aromatics of cherry pit, white flowers, fennel frond, sassafras, underbrush, bacon fat and clove. The palate is deliciously juicy and alive for the vintage with very fine tannins framing the sappy, intense flavors. The finish is elegant and full of finesse, no doubt in part due to a light extraction of these ultra-concentrated grapes. This is a Microlot Club wine and only available to members of that list.
