Some things seem to happen for a reason, others simply by mistake. The family that brought the cuttings for these vines from Italy thought they were Barbera! Lo and behold, we are the benefactors of this folly, and the proof is this deep, complex and really fun Charbono. Oodles of black fruit, blueberries, bramble, oolong tea, clove and fresh wintergreen form a halo above the glass. The palate is rich, but balanced, with everything in its right place, nothing extreme, paying homage to the old-timers, who would not stand for that nonsense. We love this wine, and hope you do to.
