2021 Moon Mountain Mourvèdre

Ah, Mourvèdre... how we love thee! Sadly, this is in the final vintage from the Deering Vineyard in the hills of Moon Mountain perched above Sonoma Valley. These are crazy, fracturous, volcanic soils - meaning the roots can penetrate deeply to extract all the minerality possible, and in a drought year like 2021, all the moisture as well. Co-fermented with 33% whole clusters and small amounts of Syrah and Grenache, this beauty sails from the glass with aromas of black cherry, white pepper, cloves, woodsmoke and wild garrigue notes. The palate is powerful and packed with flavor while the copious fine tannins and lasting finish promise a long future.
